Job description

Prepare and load liquid sugar tankers for shipment, make batches as directed per production schedule, including handling ingredients in different pack sizes, dry and liquid form properly measure and add ingredients to the batch according to the mixing instructions. Conduct monitoring of batches using basic analytical equipment (ph. meter, thermometer, refractometer), complete quality assurance testing on goods and products, organize inventory in an easy-to-access process, maintain the quality and upkeep of warehouse equipment including machinery, conform to all food safety, quality and human safety standards. Prepare and load liquid sugar tankers for shipment including make batches as directed per production schedule, including handling materials and ingredients in different pack sizes, dry and liquid form that are used in sugar production and distribution, properly measure and add ingredients to the batch according to mixing instructions, conduct monitoring of batches using basic analytical equipment including pH meter, thermometer, and refractometer. Additional duties include loading, unloading, moving and staging piping, hoses, valves, pumps, conveyors, packaging materials, structural components and sugar transfer equipment; assisting with installation and assembly of production and loading line components. Workers will use hand tools, power tools, pallet jacks, forklifts, carts, hoists, measuring devices, packaging equipment, pumps, conveyors, piping systems and basic analytical equipment. Maintaining the quality and upkeep of warehouse equipment including machinery consists of: Workers will clean, inspect, monitor, and perform basic operational upkeep of warehouse and production equipment used in sugar refinery operations. Specific tasks include cleaning machinery and work areas; removing sugar residue, dust, debris, and packaging materials; inspecting equipment for visible wear, leaks, or operational issues; checking fluid levels and reporting maintenance needs to supervisors; assisting with routine equipment setup and shutdown; lubricating accessible machine parts as directed; and ensuring equipment and warehouse areas remain organized and safe for operations. Workers may assist with upkeep of conveyors, pumps, pallet jacks, forklifts, tanker loading systems, packaging equipment, mixers, hoses, piping systems, and other sugar handling and warehouse machinery. Workers do not perform licensed mechanical, electrical, or technical repair work. Tools, equipment, and materials used include brooms, mops, hoses, cleaning solutions, pressure washers, rags, grease guns, hand tools such as wrenches and screwdrivers, pallets, pallet jacks, forklifts, conveyors, pumps, loading equipment, packaging machinery.

Special Requirements

Experience in the food industry is preferred; sugar or sweeteners industry is a plus. Must display reasonable mechanical aptitude to work with and understand processing equipment. Must have reliable attendance. Work may require bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, and crouching; ability to receive detailed information through verbal and written communication in either English or Spanish; ability to express or exchange ideas through the spoken word either in English or Spanish; ability to lift to 50lbs. Use of both hands is required. The work is primarily indoors, with some work to be performed outdoors. 3 months experience required. Schedule varies.
