Job description

We are seeking a dependable, hardworking individual to join our stocker cattle operation in Prattville, Alabama. The ideal candidate will have experience working with livestock and agricultural equipment and be willing to perform a wide variety of ranch and farm duties. This position requires someone who is self-motivated, safety-conscious, and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions. Primary Responsibilities include Livestock Management: Feed cattle using feed trucks and other equipment:
Gather, sort, and move cattle safely and efficiently: Work cattle through pens and handling facilities: Vaccinate, process, and brand livestock: Identify and treat sick or injured cattle; Assist with shipping and receiving livestock; Monitor herd health and promptly report concerns; Pasture & Grazing Management; Monitor forage conditions and grazing rotations; Move cattle between pastures as needed; Assist with fencing and water system maintenance; Help establish and maintain productive grazing systems. Farm Maintenance including Repair and maintain fences, gates, corrals, and working pens; Maintain barns, sheds, and other farm infrastructure; Perform basic mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance on equipment; Assist with general ranch improvements and seasonal projects. Qualifications include Experience working with cattle preferred; Ability to safely operate farm and ranch equipment; Mechanical aptitude and basic repair skills; Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently;
Dependable, honest, and punctual; Valid driver’s license; Ability to lift 50 pounds or more and perform physically demanding work;
Willingness to work flexible hours during busy seasons, including weekends when livestock operations require. Preferred Qualifications include CDL is a plus but not required; Welding or fabrication experience is a plus; Experience with cattle operations;
Knowledge of low-stress cattle handling techniques; Experience with pasture and grazing management. Must speak and understand English.

Special Requirements

Six (6) months recent and verifiable experience required for the job duties listed. Must be able to obtain appropriate drivers license following hire and obtain clean driving record. Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Once hired, worker may be required to take a random drug test at no cost to the worker. Testing positive for an illegal/controlled substance or failure to comply may result in immediate termination from employment.
