Job description
Primary Purpose:
Support Hawaiian Queen in the production of premium-quality queen bees and honey.
Essential Duties:
Work as a beekeeper:
Harvesting queen bees using prescribed techniques
Stocking nucleus hives
Counting and storing queens harvested daily
Relocating beehives
Feeding and medicating bees
Harvesting honey
Extracting honey in Honey House including set-up and clean-up
Repairing hives and frames
Other Duties:
Miscellaneous duties including but not limited to washing and detailing trucks and vehicles and general maintenance duties like sweeping and trash removal.
Hawaiian Queen operates in an “all hands on deck” environment where you will sometimes be asked to do your part to “get the job done”.

Special Requirements
All beekeepers will be paid not less than the highest of the applicable Adverse Effect Wage Rate (AEWR), any prevailing wage, or the Hawaii state minimum wage ($16.00 per hour as of January 1, 2026), plus any applicable production bonuses for queen bees harvested above established thresholds.
Skill Level II Experienced (1+ years) Wage: $ $18.75 per hour. Requires at least one (1) year of verifiable beekeeping experience and the ability to:
Identify and repair standard hive equipment
Light and properly operate a smoker
Identify different castes in the colony
Open and examine a colony
Properly manage the colony throughout the year
Make hive splits
Re-queen colonies
Properly feed colonies when needed
Prevent colony robbing
Monitor for pathogens and pests
Participate in honey extraction in the honey house
