Job description
Keep buildings in clean and orderly condition. Perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish. Duties may include tending furnace and boiler, performing routine maintenance activities, notifying management of need for repairs, and cleaning snow or debris from sidewalk. Clarification of furnace and boiler duty: The employee performs no direct or hands-on work on the furnace or boiler and does not operate, service, adjust, repair, or troubleshoot this equipment. All furnace and boiler operation, maintenance, and repair for the building are handled by a third-party professional heating company. The employee's only related role is to check that occupied rooms reach the company's set temperature using the standard wall thermostats in those rooms, and to report any shortfall in heating or cooling to building management, who then arranges all service and repair through the professional company. The employee does not monitor, inspect, read gauges on, or assess the furnace or boiler itself and has no responsibility for the equipment's condition. The employee uses no tools, equipment, or machinery in connection with the furnace or boiler. The reference to “performing routine maintenance activities” means general janitorial upkeep such as cleaning and light, non-mechanical tasks, and does not include mechanical, electrical, or equipment work
Special Requirements
Employee must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. Some overtime and weekends required.
