Job description
Clean stalls, pens, and equipment, using disinfectant solutions, brushes, shovels, water hoses, or pumps. Herd livestock to pastures to feedlots, scales, or enclosures. Examine animals to detect illness, injury, or disease, and to check physical characteristics, such as rate of weight gain. Mark livestock to identify ownership and grade, using brands, tags, paint, or tattoos. Provide medical treatment, such as administering medications and vaccinations, or arrange for veterinarians to provide more extensive treatment. Order food for animals, and arrange for its delivery. Maintain heated watering system. Feed and water livestock and monitor food and water supplies. Mix feed, additives, and medicines in prescribed portions. Assisting with livestock births and feedings. Maintain growth, feeding, production, and cost records. Groom, clip, trim, or castrate animals, dock ears and tails, or shear coats to collect hair. Spray livestock with disinfectants and insecticides, or dip or bathe animals. Drive to town for cattle supplies on occasion. No CDL Required and No Commercial Driving required.
Special Requirements
Minimum of 3 months of experience is required. Must be able to obtain a driver's license within 30 days of hire. Lift and carry items weighing up to 70 pounds. Repetitive movements is required. Workers must have positive verifiable experience relevant to the job and be capable of performing physically demanding tasks. Workers must be able to speak English. Employees must adhere to strict biosecurity, company policies, and food safety guidelines, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Certain roles may require a valid drivers license within 30 days of hire and a clean driving record for operating company vehicles. Exceptional performance may be rewarded with additional compensation or benefits at the employers discretion.
