Job description
Performs manual labor in support of commercial and residential landscape construction projects. The position is responsible for physically demanding outdoor work involving site preparation, excavation, material handling, cleanup, grading, and restoration activities performed under the direction of crew leaders and experienced construction personnel. Prepares work areas for construction by removing vegetation, sod, debris, and existing landscape materials. Performs hand excavation using shovels, picks, digging bars, and similar hand tools to open and refill trenches and other excavated areas needed during construction activities. Compacts soil, restores disturbed ground surfaces, and performs finish cleanup following completion of construction work. Loads, unloads, transports, stages, and organizes construction materials, supplies, equipment, and hand tools throughout the job site. Moves materials between work locations and assists with the placement of construction components where needed during ongoing projects. Removes existing landscape materials, underground components, damaged construction materials, and related debris during renovation and replacement projects. Assists with demolition and disposal activities and maintains orderly work areas throughout the construction process. Provides manual labor in support of landscape construction operations by assisting experienced crew members with ongoing project activities, supplying materials and tools, maintaining safe work areas, and performing physically demanding tasks required to advance daily construction work. Uses hand tools and small portable equipment commonly used in construction labor, including shovels, rakes, tampers, wheelbarrows, digging tools, and similar equipment to perform excavation, grading, backfilling, material movement, and cleanup. Follows project instructions, work assignments, safety procedures, and supervisor direction regarding work sequencing and daily responsibilities. Performs general construction labor and other manual tasks as assigned in support of landscape construction projects.
Special Requirements
Must lift/carry 50 lbs., when necessary. Saturday and Sunday work required, when necessary. Must be able to perform physical labor outdoors for up to 8 hours per day in all weather conditions, including cold, snow, heat, and rain.
