Job description
Feed and water livestock and monitor food and water supplies. Herd livestock to pastures for grazing or to scales, trucks, or other enclosures. Examine animals to detect illness, injury, or disease, and to check physical characteristics, such as rate of weight gain. Provide medical treatment, such as administering medications and vaccinations, or arrange for veterinarians to provide more extensive treatment. Segregate animals according to weight, age, color, and physical condition. Maintain livestock equipment, livestock machinery, buildings, pens, yards, and fences. Move livestock equipment or livestock from one location to another on the farm. Clean stalls, pens, and livestock equipment, using disinfectant solutions, brushes, shovels, water hoses, or pumps. Shift animals between grazing areas to ensure that they have sufficient access to food. Patrol grazing lands on horseback or using all-terrain vehicles. Drive to town for cattle supplies on occasion. No CDL Required and no commercial truck driving required.
Special Requirements
Minimum of 3 months of experience is required. Must be able to obtain a driver's license within 30 days of hire. Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Workers must have positive verifiable experience relevant to the job and be capable of performing physically demanding tasks. Workers must be able to speak English. Employees must adhere to strict biosecurity, company policies, and food safety guidelines, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Certain roles may require a valid drivers license within 30 days of hire and a clean driving record for operating company vehicles. Exceptional performance may be rewarded with additional compensation or benefits at the employers discretion.
