Job description
Perform general farm labor associated with the grain farming operation, including post-harvest grain handling, agricultural equipment work, and winter yard duties. Perform routine maintenance and servicing of agricultural equipment used in the farming operation, including tractors, tillage tools, trucks, combines, sprayers, and planting equipment, in preparation for the next production season. Operate tractors and move agricultural equipment as needed for farm operations. Perform grain handling and storage duties, including checking stored grain, assisting with moving grain out of storage bins, and keeping grain bin sites accessible. Load, truck, and haul the farm's grain to the local cooperative for sale. Perform winter yard duties, including snow and ice removal from farm work areas to support grain handling and agricultural equipment operations. Work will depend on winter weather conditions and the farm's operational schedule for grain marketing and equipment upkeep. The work is associated with the operation's grain handling, agricultural equipment, and general farm labor functions during the winter months following harvest. Perform agricultural equipment upkeep necessary to prepare tractors, tillage tools, trucks, combines, sprayers, and planting equipment for the next production season. Duties support the farm's seasonal grain handling, grain marketing, equipment upkeep, and related winter agricultural operations. Employees will be provided with adequate breaks, including meal and rest periods, consistent with applicable Federal, State, and local law, during the course of each workday.
Special Requirements
Minimum of 3 months experience is required. Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Wage rate may increase with verifiable experience. Employer may reward exceptional work with monetary or other benefits in addition to those listed here in his sole discretion. Operator License Class D Candidate will have 60 days to obtain. Skill Level II Experienced LevelPursuant to the Interim Final Rule (IFR) implementing the new four-level wage system for H-2A occupations, the employer designates this position as Skill Level II Experienced Level, indicating that the job requires prior related experience, independent judgment in performing recurring tasks, and the ability to work with limited supervision.
