Farmworker/laborer

Job description

Workers will perform agricultural labor related to the handling, packing, and shipment of blueberries and cranberries. Duties include sorting and grading produce; washing and preparing fruit; packing fruit into boxes, containers, clamshells, or other packaging; labeling and preparing products for shipment; stacking, palletizing, loading and unloading agricultural products and materials; and cleaning and maintaining packing and work areas.

Workers will operate, clean, maintain, troubleshoot, and perform minor routine repairs on packing equipment and other equipment used in the handling and packing of fruit. Workers may also operate forklifts, pallet jacks, conveyors, tractors, and other farm or packing equipment when properly trained and authorized.

Workers will perform general field and farm labor as needed, including cleaning, organizing, moving, and properly storing farm machinery, harvesting equipment, tools, and supplies at the end of the harvest season. Workers may assist with preparing equipment and farm areas for seasonal shutdown and storage.

Workers must follow all employer food safety, sanitation, equipment, and workplace safety procedures. Workers may perform other related agricultural duties consistent with Farmworkers and Laborers, Crop, Nursery, and Greenhouse (SOC 45-2092).

Special Requirements

Job requires workers to complete tasks consistent with Farmworkers and Laborers, Crop, Nursery, and Greenhouse (SOC 45-2092), including crop handling, sorting, grading, packing, agricultural equipment operation, and general farm labor.

Experience Requirement: Two (2) months of verifiable commercial agricultural experience required. Applicants must furnish job references from employers within the last three (3) years establishing acceptable prior experience.
