The job description is for a farmworker/groom for a Thoroughbred breeding farm ', NACIS code 112920, SOC code 45-0000, ONET code 45-2093 Farmworkers, farm, ranch. The occupational Title is Farmworker Livestock code 410.664.010 with SVP 4.
The job includes feeding, watering, cleaning stalls, grooming, bathing, walking horses, and turning horses out. These job duties only take place at the worksite listed. This is a seasonal position tied to the breeding season of Thoroughbred racehorses. Thoroughbreds are bred and they have their foals anytime between Jan15- June 15, but some mares we bring in early to get them acclimated to the new environment before they foal out which is why they come at the end of Nov. Some of our mares live at other farms until they are ready to foal, as we try to give our pastures a break in off season. The event which makes this seasonal is breeding as every other breeding farm in NY. The horses are owned by Saratoga Glen Farm LLC. These activities take place during our peak season which spans from November 26, till September 20. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Hours are 7:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.- 3:00 p.m. Monday -Saturday, One hour for lunch 12:00pm- 1:00p.m.
