Job description
Feed and water sheep and lambs and monitor food and water supplies. Examine animals to
detect illness, injury, or disease, and to check physical characteristics, such as rate of weight
gain. Maintain heated watering system. Clean stalls, pens, and equipment, using disinfectant
solutions, brushes, shovels, water hoses, or pumps. Mix feed, additives, and medicines in
prescribed portions. Maintain growth, feeding, production, and cost records. Groom, clip, trim,
or castrate dock ears and tails, or shear coats to collect hair. Operate snow removal equipment
in order to operate feed wagons. Remove ice formed in water. May have to drive to town to
pickup supplies.
Effective 02/21/2025 per Michigan State Statute, employees will earn one hour of paid sick
time for every 30 hours worked. Businesses with 10 or more employees must allow at least 72
hours of paid sick leave and those with fewer than 10 employees must allow at least 40 hours
of paid sick leave and 32 hours of unpaid sick leave.
Special Requirements
Minimum of 1 months of experience is required. Must be able to obtain a driver's license within 30 days of hire. Lift and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Extensive walking is required. Workers must have positive verifiable experience relevant to the job and be capable of performing physically demanding tasks. Workers must be able to speak English. Employees must adhere to strict biosecurity, company policies, and food safety guidelines, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Certain roles may require a valid drivers license within 30 days of hire and a clean driving record for operating company vehicles. Exceptional performance may be rewarded with additional compensation or benefits at the employers discretion.
