Job description
Feed and water livestock and monitor food and water supplies. Herd livestock to pastures for grazing or to scales, trucks, or other enclosures. Examine animals to detect illness, injury, or disease, and to check physical characteristics, such as rate of weight gain. Maintain
heated watering system. Segregate animals according to weight, age, color, and physical condition. Maintain equipment, machinery, buildings, pens, yards, and fences. Move equipment or livestock from one location to another on the farm. Mix feed, additives, and medicines in prescribed portions. Shift animals between grazing areas to ensure that they have sufficient access to food. Patrol grazing lands on horseback or using all-terrain vehicles. Maintain growth, feeding, production, and cost records. Operate snow removal equipment in order to operate feed wagons. Drive to town for cattle supplies on occasion. Remove ice formed in water. No CDL Required and no commercial truck driving required.
Special Requirements
No minimum education requirement. Must be able to obtain a driver's license within 30 days of hire. Employer requires criminal background check post-hire at employers' expense due to the presence of children on the farm. Failure to pass criminal background check will result in termination of employment. Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Extensive pushing and pulling is required. Extensive sitting is required. Extensive walking is required. Frequent stooping is required. Workers must have positive verifiable experience relevant to the job and be capable of performing physically demanding tasks. Workers must be able to speak English. Employees must adhere to strict biosecurity, company policies, and food safety guidelines, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Certain roles may require a valid drivers license within 30 days of hire and a clean driving record for operating company vehicles.
