Job description

Workers will perform various agricultural duties related to watermelon production throughout the different stages of the crop. Duties will include preparing and conditioning fields, clearing and cleaning growing areas, planting watermelon seeds or transplants, and performing cultivation activities to promote proper plant growth.

Workers will perform hand weeding and other methods of weed control around plants and between rows. They will also perform irrigation duties, monitor soil moisture conditions, and assist with the maintenance and operation of irrigation systems as needed.

During harvest, workers will identify mature watermelons according to the supervisor's instructions, carefully cut or pick the fruit to prevent damage, and place the watermelons in designated containers or areas. Duties may also include sorting, grading, cleaning, packing, arranging, handling, and loading watermelons for transportation or storage.

Workers will maintain clean and orderly work areas and perform other general agricultural duties related to watermelon production, cultivation, and harvesting as assigned by the supervisor. Work will be performed primarily outdoors and may require working under varying weather conditions.

Los trabajadores realizaran diversas labores agricolas relacionadas con la produccion de sandia durante las diferentes etapas del cultivo. Las actividades incluiran preparar y acondicionar los terrenos, limpiar las areas de cultivo, sembrar semillas o trasplantar plantas de sandia y realizar labores de cultivo para promover el crecimiento adecuado de las plantas.

Los trabajadores realizaran labores de deshierbe y control de maleza alrededor de las plantas y entre las hileras, utilizando herramientas manuales y otros metodos apropiados. Tambien podran realizar labores de riego, revisar las condiciones de humedad del suelo y ayudar en el mantenimiento de los sistemas de riego.

Durante la cosecha, los trabajadores identificaran las sandias maduras de acuerdo con las instrucciones del supervisor, las cortaran o recogeran cuidadosamente para evitar danos, y las colocaran en los recipientes o areas designadas. Las actividades tambien pueden incluir clasificar, seleccionar, limpiar, empacar, acomodar y cargar las sandias para su transporte o almacenamiento.

Los trabajadores mantendran limpias las areas de trabajo y realizaran otras labores generales relacionadas con la produccion, cultivo y cosecha de sandia, segun las necesidades de la operacion y las instrucciones del supervisor. El trabajo se realizara principalmente al aire libre y puede requerir trabajar bajo diferentes condiciones climaticas.

Special Requirements

No alcohol consumption allowed.
The worker must be able to work indoors and outdoors in extreme cold, wet, or hot conditions on uneven surfaces. Able to handle the physical workload. The worker must wear long-sleeved shirts, long pants (not shorts), and hard-soled shoes, preferably boots, not tennis shoes. A copy of the employment contract or a copy of the ETA 790 in lieu of an employment contract. Volunteer bus drivers: will drive passenger buses.
