Job description
Specific Job Requirements:
1. Must be able to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, and reach for long periods of time.
2. Responsible for helping with day-to-day farming operations in their designated area on the vegetable farm.
3. Duties include harvesting, packaging, weeding, washing and cooling of row crop vegetables to meet production standards and procedures.
4. The work is under the general direction of a supervisor or employer and is subject to period review by the supervisors for results obtained, changes in work methods, and adherence to policies.
5. Maximize crop by best weeding and harvesting practices.
6. Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds.
7. Work with crews that move and set up irrigation pipes.
Workers can also:
1. Drive tractors
2. Spray and mix chemicals and fertilizers
3. Operate trucks to carry farm equipment, crops and farmworkers
4. Perform general repair of agricultural equipment.
5. Pack crops into containers.
Field Worker will to the following tasks:
Plant transplants and/or seeds
Harvest a variety of produce and berries
Pack produce for delivery to customers
Lift and stack produce on trucks for transport to main farm
Perform weeding as needed
Follow instructions from Field Supervisors
Keep production levels at crew rates
Work with irrigation systems
Perform manual labor as needed
Work Safely following procedures and instructions
Follow instructions regarding hygiene and food safety
Field Work Involves:
Repetitive movements
Extensive Pushing and pulling
extensive walking
frequent stooping
The Employer attests that these workers will be properly trained by their supervisor who has a valid Private Applicators license which is the standard pursuant to Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA). Furthermore, their supervisor will be available to ensure that workers understand all chemical label, safety instructions, and application instructions pursuant to WSDA.
