General Farm Worker

Job description

Performs duties like: drive and operate farm machinery to plant, cultivate, harvest and store grain crops. Attach farm implements, such as plow, disc and drill to tractor. Till soil; plant and cultivate grain. Tow harvesting equipment. Drive and operate self-propelled combine. General lubrication, service (check fluids) and mechanical repair/maintenance to farm machinery. Drive grain trucks to transport crops to elevator or storage area. Preparing fields for planting crops, caring for crops, spraying crops, harvesting crops, preparing fields for winter, harvesting hay, welding; carpentry work; farm building repair, cutting trees, installing and tearing out fencing, mowing/weed eating, general seasonal farm work.

Equipment: Tractor, planter, disc, plow, sprayer, combine, wagons, semi truck-trailer, sickle mower, wind rower, flatbed trailer, pay loader, skid loader, mower, chopper, pick up truck, trucks, fork lift, ATV/UTV, irrigation, disc bind mower, hydro swing mower, loader tractor, tele-handler, chainsaw.

Crops: Alfalfa, Grain, Hay, Oats, Silage, Soy Beans

Special Requirements

Extensive pushing, pulling, sitting and walking. Exposure to extreme temperatures. Frequent stooping. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Minimum of (3) months experience required. Must be able to obtain a driver's license within 30-90 days of hire. Wage rate may increase with verifiable experience. No minimum education required.
