Job description
Workers will plant hundreds of oyster seeds in specially made cages located on our water parcels we lease where our harvesting is performed; repair damaged cages caused by aquatic predators such as snails and other specie fishes that kill and eat our harvest. Workers will delicately handle the oysters during their growing period, check growth rate and for any signs of diseases or fungus, which is important to detect and cure during the growth process in their natural habitat (water). Workers will flipped all cages located on water parcels on a bi-weekly basis throughout the entire growth process, to ensure rapid growth and avoid the oysters to bind as they grow in size. Workers will move oysters to larger cages as they grow during its growth process measuring its size until oysters reach commercial size (3). Once oysters reach commercial size (3), cages are brought to dock for laborers to open the cages and remove oysters from cages, hose down oysters to clean them by removing alga, slim, residue or debris, such as seaweed, sand or any non-toxic growths on oyster shells and immediately placing oysters in sacks ready for pick up by consumers who sell fresh oysters for consumption at their establishment. WORKERS WILL NOT OPEN SHELLS. Accommodations, tools, supplies and transportation provided to workers at no cost. Workers will work rotating shifts M-F - 4:00AM to 12:00PM or 12:00PM to 8:00PM and Saturday 9:00AM to 2:00PM or 2:00PM to 7:00PM
Special Requirements
Workers must be able to work rotating shifts, endure standing, bending, walking and working outdoors in water and on small boat to perform duties.
