Farmworker: Diversified

Job description

Workers will perform various duties associated with working in the crops named in this job order: Christmas Trees, Container Trees, B & B Landscaping Trees, Seedlings, Greens, Corn, Cherries, Apples, Hay, Peaches, and Grapes.

Workers will perform various duties associated with planting, cultivation (including pruning and thinning) and hand harvesting fruit and vegetable crops. Hand thinning fruit, harvesting, and placing in coolers with care. Workers may be required to help install and maintain irrigation, fix fences, and be involved with painting tree trunks. Workers may be required to climb, bend, stoop, or crawl to harvest any of the crops listed. Workers will be instructed in the proper way to harvest and will be expected to conform to those instructions. Workers will be required to perform many of these duties atop a ladder. Workers will bend and stoop to pick produce as instructed by their supervisor.

Sanitation Requirements: For food and general personal safety purposes, all workers will be required and expected to follow common sanitary practices at all times. This is particularly critical when hand harvesting crops for human consumption. Employees are required to cleanse their hands by washing them thoroughly with soap and water after using the bathroom and before entering the fields for harvest activities. All workers must report all injuries and illnesses to their employer. As well any communicable disease such as but not limited to diarrhea, or any other infectious disease or illness. Workers shall report immediately any cuts or abrasions that cause open bleeding.

Workers may or may not perform any of the duties below based on farm assignment. Workers could be assigned to different farms and crops daily, weekly, or monthly. Workers may be moved multiple times until the employer finds the best fit for the worker. These decisions will be done based on the employer, or supervisors discretion.
Grapes: Pruning vines/trees: Tying, tucking and hedging vines. Picking leaves, hand harvest grapes, planting grapevines, picking rocks, weed whipping, install and remove vine netting. Weeding, planting vines, building trellis, pulling wire, pounding posts, staple and tighten wire, install anchors, install and run irrigation tubing;

Special Requirements

Workers must have at least 3 months experience as a farmworker. Applicants must be able to furnish affirmative job references from recent employers operating comparable operations establishing acceptable previous experience. Must be physically able to meet and perform all job specifications stated in job order. Must be able to work in the hot humid weather for extended periods of time. Workers are subject to random drug testing post hire at no cost to the employee. Failing or refusing a drug test will result in immediate termination.
