Grounds Maintenance Worker

Job description

The position will be responsible for building and maintaining gardens, parks and other outdoor and indoor landscapes. They ensure plant growth, cleanliness of outdoor facilities and pruning of overgrown hedges and trees. The landscaper will maintain equipment and conduct routine preventative maintenance on equipment.

Duties:

Perform general maintenance of walkways, fountains, parks, recreation areas steps, porches, and driveway. Operate vehicles or powered equipment, such as mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, snow blowers, chainsaws, electric clippers, sod cutters, or pruning saws. Maintain and minor repairs of landscape equipment. Prune or trim trees, shrubs, or hedges, using shears, pruners, or chain saws. Mix and spray or spread fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides onto grass, shrubs, or trees, using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders. Application of approved pesticides. Care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, removing thatch, or trimming or edging around flower beds, walks, or walls. Follow planned landscaping designs to determine where to lay sod, sow grass, or plant flowers or foliage. Mowing grass, pruning, leaf and trash removal. Maintaining the general appearance of ponds. Planting and removal of fresh flowers in designated areas (annuals and perennials). Attach wires from planted trees to support stakes. Removal of snow.
