Job description
The main function of the Agricultural Worker is to carry out technical tasks according to the needs of the coffee farms, which include, but are not limited to: sowing, pruning, weeding, plants transplantation, clear the land for next crop season, remove all old trees and their roots, run the rows across the slope and place ground covers to avoid erosion, plant windbreaks, establish shade trees and irrigation ad weed cleaning, etc.
Workers must be able to stand and walk up and down hill, to sit, squat, kneel, crouch, bend (from waist), push, pull, reach, lift and carry items weighing in the range of 5 to 60 pounds (could be bags with green or dry coffee seeds). Workers are required to hand pick ripe coffee one by one, while carrying a basket around their waist with a minimum rate of 35 pounds per hour.
The Agricultural Worker is responsible for following and complying with all safety rules and company policies. In addition, he is responsible for following the instructions given by the Supervisor. Also, he is responsible for following all rules of the federal and state labor department.
The regular work week will consist of 40 hours per week Monday to Friday, with regular shifts from 6:30am to 11:30 am and from 12:30pm to 3:00pm, with break time from 11:30am to 12:30pm, with the possibility of paid overtime depending on crop maturity and field needs.
Regular attendance of all employees during scheduled hours of the workday and/or work period is expected. Unsatisfactory attendance, including tardiness, reiterated absences and requests to leave before the end of the workday, quitting early, will be cause for disciplinary action. Employees are required to notify the farm manager or supervisor as far in advance as possible prior to the star of the workday.
