Job description

Nursery work will involve growing various nursery products in soilless media and in fields outdoors. Worker will be required to: remove insects from plants by hand; pull weeds from containers and fields by hand; plant, maintain and harvest finished stock; plant, move and maintain containers; cover and uncover greenhouses; acquire scion stock and prepare; propagate stock using asexual techniques such as side veneer grafting; evaluate products to assess quality and uniformity. Worker must be able to listen to, understand, and follow simple instructions, crouch, bend, and sit on ground, walk, stoop and carryout repetitive movements for extended periods, reach, lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. Worker must be able to work outdoors in dusty and dirty conditions, in extremes of heat and cold, and in inclement weather. Worker should be in good health and physical condition. Three months prior experience is required. All work must be performed carefully in a timely and proficient manner according to instruction to avoid injury to the worker or damage to products and equipment. Employer will furnish housing at no cost to workers who are unable to return to their permanent residence at the end of each day. The employer will provide at no cost to the worker, any tools or necessary equipment to perform required tasks. Employer will comply with re-entry restrictions applicable to pesticides and other chemicals.

Special Requirements

Alternate work will include fieldwork, general field labor, brush cutting and farm maintenance activities, including maintenance, repair or painting of barns and other structures, greenhouses and fences, and any other equipment and tools used on the farm.
