Job description

Worker will examine and sort fleece according to quality. Will estimate weight of fleece after processing. Separate locks of fleece and examine fibers for length, elasticity and color to determine quality. Examine fleece to determine presence of dirt, manure, straw, stains and moisture. Place fleece in container and mark wool grade on containers according to government standard and quality. Will also set up grading tables and fleece containers prior to shearing and pack up grading tables and fleece containers upon completion of shearing so everything is ready to move to the next job site. Fleeces must be continually moving away from shearers so they can be kept separate as they must be graded individually. It is important that the wool graders and the sheep shearers work in cooperation with each other for the proper handling of the wool.
