Job description

We need a seasonal worker to assist with our row crop operation where we grow beans, corn, and grass for haying. The employee will also assist in the spring with our calving season. Our cattle care confined for calving in the spring and heifers are calved out in February and cows are calved out in March. Cows/heifers and calves are then sent to pasture in April. During the calving season and while the cattle are confined from February until April we need employees to check on cows, feed cows, assist with birthing and delivery and medicate cattle as needed. When they are released in the pastures in April no further assistance is needed with the cattle. Employee will then start our crop production season. Employee will operate farm equipment including tractors, tillage equipment, and other farm equipment to assist with planting, spraying, harvesting crops and mowing hay. Employee will have daily tasks including conventional tillage, row-crop tillage, grain cart operation, mowing and operating other equipment as needed. Employee will assist with maintenance of irrigation equipment and irrigation schedule during the summer. Employee will operate a tractor trailer for the transport of crops to and from the field to bins for storage or coop. Employee will complete preventative maintenance and daily inspections on equipment. Employee will follow a pre-season inspection schedule and complete annual maintenance, as well as inspect equipment for mechanical, structural, and normal wear. Employee will complete general farm duties, as directed.

Special Requirements

Must be able to lift 50 lbs. This job requires exposure to extreme temperatures, repetitive movements, extensive pushing and pulling, extensive walking and frequent stooping. Employer will conduct post-hire/random drug screenings at no cost to the employee to enforce a drug free workplace policy. Failing a drug test will result in termination. This job requires a regular driver's license and 3 months of experience.
