Job description
Worker will be required to perform a variety of duties related to the production of wheat, corn, grain, hay, potatoes, compost and manure.
The majority of the work activities during the overall contract period, however, will be related to agricultural equipment operation.
General Farm Work will include the following responsibilities: drive, load/unload 10-wheel and/or semi-trucks; 2 or 3 axel trucks; backup trucks in tight maneuvering conditions; climb in and out of tall trucks and various truck beds and/or trailers several times a day; operate telehandler with bale fork.
Worker may maintain, drive, attach and operate farm implements/tractors/equipment to till soil, plant, cultivate, fertilize and harvest crops; operate tractors/trucks to load/unload products; work with augers, gas motors, generators and electrical cords.
Worker will operate farm trucks to: haul seed potatoes/corn/grain during planting from cellars or storages to various fields located on the farm; haul fertilizer and/or fuel from storage tanks to various fields located on the farm; haul potatoes to the warehouse on the farm; haul compost/manure/water from/to various fields located on the farm or to/from market; haul/stack hay and/or straw from locations on the farm to various fields located on the farm.
Harvest duties will include: haul potatoes/corn/grain from various fields located on the farm to storage facilities located on the farm.
Products must be transported in a timely manner. Worker must keep a daily log of products that are hauled and report his log daily for inventory purposes.
All drivers will be responsible for keeping their trucks in working order by: doing small repairs and conducting daily general maintenance duties. Responsible for reporting anything that is wrong with truck to farm mechanic for quick repair.
Special Requirements
Applicants must have 20 days experience with operating a semi or 10-wheel truck and previous experience with operating a telehandler with bale fork. Applicants hired must be able to obtain a valid drivers license within 10 days of hire as driving on public roads may be required.
