Job description
Job duties include operating equipment to prepare land for planting, spray cops when needed, harvest crops, and transport crops to the storage area. Equipment that employees will operate includes, but is not limited to, tractors with various implements, sprayer, lawn mowers, backhoes, farm trucks pulling water tanks and diesel tanks, combine, cotton picker, and eighteen wheelers. Duties also include manual labor such as loading and unloading chemicals, seed, etc; filling planters during the planting season; general yard and grounds maintenance when needed; changing tires when needed; assist with cleaning out grain bins as crops are hauled out; general maintenance of shop and office areas such as grass cutting, cleaning, etc; assisting with mechanic work on equipment when necessary; and occasionally helping with cattle when needed to move, vaccinate, feed, etc. Pay increase or bonus may be possible depending on experience and merit.
Special Requirements
Employees will lift seed bags that weigh 50 pounds. Job will require workers performing duties outdoors during times when temperatures may exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Employees will be driving tractors for extended hours during planting and harvest which requires extensive sitting. Job requires having, or being able to obtain, a driver's license within 30 days of hire. Basic English literacy and math skills are required.
