Job description
Job requires operating GPS tractors as well as sprayers, combines, and other farm equipment to till soil, to plant, cultivate, irrigate, fertilize, and harvest crops; driving semi-trucks to transport grain to storage or take water/chemicals to sprayers in the fields; changing cutting headers on combines; operating equipment for field maintenance such as running drainage ditches and water furrows in fields; operating equipment for upkeep of the shop grounds such as mowers. Manual labor in the form of laying irrigation pipe, walking and puncturing the irrigation piping as required, performing maintenance on irrigation equipment such as pivots and irrigation motors, sweeping and upkeep of farm shop areas, and performing miscellaneous maintenance and repair will be required. Applicant must have, or be able to obtain, a driver’s license. 3 months of experience are required along with basic literacy and math skills. Increase or bonus may be possible depending on experience and merit.
Special Requirements
Job may require certification by way of taking a pesticide safety course before operating a sprayer. This course will be organized and paid for by the employer. Job requires being capable of lifting up to 100 lbs. Applicant must have, or be able to obtain, a driver's license. Extensive pushing and pulling may be required when repairing and performing maintenance on equipment and when working with irrigation piping. Exposure to high temperatures will be possible when working for several hours in the summer heat. Planting and harvesting seasons will may require extensive sitting in tractors. Puncturing the irrigation piping will require extensive walking and repetitive movements. Shoveling that requires frequent stooping or bending over may be required.
