Job description
Duties include planting, trimming, stomping, trellising apples and general farm work.
Workers will plant trees in orchard using shovel and hoe.
Worker may be instructed to trim entire trees, tops only, or bottoms only depending on supervisors instructions. Worker will use a variety of pruning equipment including hand shears, hand loppers, hand saws, and 16-foot ladders. Workers may be required to selectively prune only trees of a certain size as instructed by supervisors. Worker must clear brush from around trees.
Workers will perform hand thinning to control the size and quality of grown fruit. Worker must possess ability to pick up and handle a 16 foot orchard ladder weighing 40 pounds. Worker will remove the smallest fruit blossom, bud and/or identifiable fruit from within a cluster of other fruits. Workers will be expected to be able to identify and remove fruit that is misshapen, damaged and/or with other quality problems as directed by supervisors. Thinning may be done from the ground or a ladder up to 16 feet in height or from a motorized platform.
Workers will also be required to do tree tying by tying limbs to trellises and tying limbs together.
Tree stomping will be performed to remove dead tree trunks from the orchard.
Other duties include general farm work. Workers who possess a valid driver's license may also be requested to drive other workers to and from work and to the store, using employer-provided passenger vehicles.
Workers will be required to perform physical activities including but not limited to climbing, bending, stooping and heavy lifting. The activities will be performed under extreme weather conditions such as heat and direct sunlight, cold weather, possible rain and exposure to pollen. Workers must be able to perform all job duties in safe manner. Workers will be expected to perform job duties in a timely and proficient manner.

Workers must adhere to all safety rules as instructed by the supervisor. Employer is a drug-free workplace.
Bilingual in English is a plus but not a requirement.
