Job description
Job duties include the operation of various farm equipment to plant and harvest crops. This equipment includes, but is not limited to, trucks, tractors with various implements, sprayers, combines (grain and peanut), hay equipment, planters, and mowing equipment. Duties also include manual labor such as performing mechanical repair and maintenance on all equipment and vehicles; fence building; rice field shovel work; operating sprayers to spray crops with pesticides, fungicides, herbicides, and fertilizer; installing levee gates in rice fields; poly pipe rolling and retrieval; loading planters with seed; shoveling grain at farm storage location; general cleanup such as sweeping, picking up trash from worksite, etc; transporting grain to elevator or storage locations. Employees may work gates in the working pen and help move cattle through the working pen. Daily duties may vary. Pay increase or bonus may be possible depending on experience or merit.
Special Requirements
Employees will be lifting bags of seed into planters and may experience extreme heat working outside in the summer in LA. Employees must have or be able to obtain a drivers license within 30 days of hire. Basic English literacy and math skills are required.
