Job description
Job duties will include assisting with planting, land preparation, tillage, irrigation, chemical or fertilizer application, harvesting and delivery to packaging and/or processing facilities for all crops. Workers will be required to operate tractors, sprayers, combines, cotton pickers, and other large farm equipment to perform work duties. Other job duties will include: loading seed into planters and operating equipment to plant all crops; perform irrigation work including laying pipe, setting up and operating irrigation equipment, and clearing and maintaining irrigation ditches; building constructing and maintaining levees; installing and removing levy gates and putting in spillways; walking fields to ensure the crops are receiving adequate water supplies; hauling crops from fields to storage facilities; loading and unloading grain into trucks; general maintenance and upkeep on all farm equipment; using hand tools for field work and equipment repair; receiving grain at grain bin and elevator facility; transferring grain between bins; shoveling grain that cannot be removed by automatic conveyor equipment; performing housekeeping duties to ensure storage facilities are properly maintained. Increase or bonus may be possible depending on experience and merit.
Special Requirements
3 months of experience along with basic English literacy and math skills are required. Workers must have, or be able to obtain, a driver's license within 30 days of hire. Worker must be able to lift 50 lbs. Work will be performed outdoors in hot, cold, wet, and dry weather. Working in fields may require periods of extensive sitting or walking. Pushing and pulling may be required when repairing and maintaining equipment as well as performing day to day duties.
