Job description

Job requires the operation of farm equipment including, but not limited to, tractors with various implements, sprayers, swathers, hay rakes, tedders, hay steamers, balers, bale wagons, hay lifts, semi-trucks, forklifts and border discs to till soil; prepare land; plant, irrigate, fertilize, spray, cultivate, harvest and transport crops to seed cleaning or storage area. Job also requires changing irrigation water sets; performing concrete ditch repairs as necessary; cleaning and servicing farm equipment daily or as often as necessary to ensure proper equipment operation; hand weeding and hand harvesting small plots of organic heirloom crops; re-stacking hay bales when necessary; picking up trash in and around fields; performing post-harvest cleaning and processing of crops which may involve assisting in the operation of an air-screening machine, a gravity table, a destoner, a polisher, and an optical color sorter; working with grain conveyors and universal elevator legs. Daily duties may vary depending on field, weather, and crop conditions. Pay increases or bonuses may be possible on an individual basis depending on experience or merit.

Special Requirements

Job requires having or being able to obtain a US driver's license within 30 days of hire. Job requires workers performing duties outdoors during periods when temperatures may exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Job duties will require periods when workers must push, pull, sit, walk, stoop, bend over, or perform repetitive movements. Random drug screening may be possible post-hire at the employer's expense. Drug testing will be performed in the event of an accident or instance where equipment is wrecked or someone is injured in accordance with farm policy and insurance requirements. Random testing may be performed to ensure the safety of the workers and public since the workers will be operating heavy machinery.
