Job description

Drivers/supervisors will pick up workers as needed (housing is adjacent to farm), take them to worksite, walk field, supervise workers, perform timekeeping, and drive workers back to their housing. They will also fill water jugs with drinking water for the workers each morning and ensure field sanitation measures are maintained throughout the day. They are required to live in the housing provided by the employer and take workers once a week to the bank and food store.

These employees will also plant various ornamental shrubs and landscape-type trees such as oak, holly, cypress, ligustrum, palms, and pine trees. They will also plant blueberry, orange and peach trees. Workers will make potting soil for plants, lay down fabric for potted plants, remove diseased plants, replant ornamental shrubs, transplant plants. They will use Bush Hog to mow in between rows of plants/trees. Duties also include harvesting pine needles. Other duties include cleaning land, weeding, repairing fences, barn and buildings on the farm, as well as general farm labor. Work will be done under extreme weather conditions and physical conditions such as heavy bending, stooping and lifting.

The employer will provide the tools and equipment necessary to perform the described job duties without charge to the worker. The employer will charge the workers for reasonable costs related to the worker's refusal or negligent failure to return the tools or due to such worker's willful damage or destruction of the tools and equipment.

Special Requirements

Drivers/supervisors must be able to communicate with field laborers in their spoken language.

Workers must adhere to all safety rules as instructed by the supervisor. Employer is a drug-free workplace. Background check and random drug testing will be post hire at employers' expense.

Ten (10) hours per day, Monday through Friday and two (2) hours on Sunday is normal, however, the worker may be requested but not required to work additional hours per day and Saturday, the Sabbath, and/or federal holidays depending upon the conditions of the crop, weather, maturity of the crop and market conditions.
