Job description

Manual planting, harvesting shrubs, ornamental plants, trees, flowers 45%. Spray, pull, load and unload plants 15%, use hand tools 10% (shovels, trowels, sprayer, hoes, pruning hooks, shears, etc.). Duties include tilling soil, mulching, transplanting, weeding, thinning, pruning, applying pesticides and fertilizer, grading, sorting and packing 10%. Work in nursery facility 5%. Irrigation and cultivation duties 5%. Minor maintenance and operation of farm equipment 5%. Farm, field and shed sanitation duties 5%. Allergies to ragweed, goldenrod, fertilizers, pesticides, insect sprays and related chemicals, etc., may affect workers ability to perform the job. Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms, legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, balancing, walking, stooping, bending, stretching, twisting, kneeling, and handling of materials repetitively for long periods of time. After hire, workers may be required to take a random drug test (at employers expense) as part of fitness for duty. Work is done in all kinds of weather from extreme heat to cold and rain. Time may vary due to mechanical availability, crop growth and weather conditions.
