Job description

Ranch work. On foot & on horseback, incl. but not limited to herding, sorting, breeding, calving, castrating, branding, tagging, horn tipping, vaccinating, medicating, feeding. Loading & unloading grain & hay. Controlling predators & checking & maintaining livestock. Cut & clear brush with hand tools & machinery. Horse care incl. but not limited to stall cleaning, feeding, shoeing, training, foaling. Clean & repair tack. Service & repair equipment. Check, maintain & repair water lines, tanks, windmills, pumps, roads, & fences. Heavy workload during seasonal calving, foaling, working cattle, & during drought or other excessive weather conditions. Closed range. Lifting req. 50#

Special Requirements

Must be able to ride, handle, and care for horses, and work cattle from horseback in a manner to assure safety of worker, co-workers, and livestock. Must have basic working ability with fence tools & other common ranch implements. Must be reliable to perform assigned tasks capably & efficiently without close supervision. Absences from work and/or failure to perform required duties not tolerated. Worker must be willing & able to live & work alone or in small groups in isolated areas. Work involves ranch animals, vehicles, machinery, outdoors in all types of weather (extremely hot, cold, wet, etc.) and risk of poisonous snakes, predators, rocky terrain, dust/sand storms, flash floods, blizzards, and brush fires. NO family, pets/animals with regard to housing. 3 months ranch work experience(references) required.
