Job description
Shipping: Operate equipment to load seed potatoes onto lines to ship on trucks, set up potato conveyor and piler line, guide potato trucks to potato line, monitor flow of potatoes onto potato line, remove corn stalks, dirt, rock, rotten potatoes and other debris from potato line, clean dirt and debris from work area with shovels and brooms and load into wheelbarrow, dump wheelbarrows into skid-steer, empty skid-steer into debris truck and weigh at scale, empty debris truck, ensure all potatoes are removed from equipment and trucks between lots, clean and sanitize trucks
Preparing seed potatoes for planting: Operate equipment to load seed potatoes onto cutting line, cut seed by hand if necessary, setup and fill large plastic totes for storing seed potatoes, move totes around with fork lift, move equipment between storages, collect potato samples off of the line, remove corn stalks, dirt, rock, rotten potatoes and other debris from potato line, clean dirt and debris from work area with shovels and brooms and load into wheelbarrow, dump wheelbarrows into skid-steer, empty skid-steer into debris truck and weigh at scale, empty debris truck, ensure all potatoes are removed from equipment and trucks between lots, clean and sanitize trucks
Planting: Move equipment between fields, clean and sanitize trucks, drive trucks to/from fields, clean all equipment between seed lots
position culverts for ventilation system, operate tractors for tilling and planting, operate skid steer and piler to load potatoes on planter.
Hours worked are dependent on the weather.
Special Requirements
Whole Seed Farm LLC requires workers to have a driver's license when operating farm equipment vehicles. Whole Seed farms will facilitate H-2A workers getting a driver's license.
All tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the duties assigned will be provided to the workers without charge or deposit charge.
Whole Seed farm LLC guarantees the worker employment of 420 work hours which is equal to at least three-fourths of the 80 workdays of the total contract period.
If a worker voluntarily abandons employment before the end of the contract period or terminated for cause, and the employer provides timely notification to the NPC and DHS which will relieve subsequent transportation and subsistence cost and the 3/4 guarantee.
