Job description
The worker will prepare the land, plant, fertilize, bale and cut the hay crop; run and care for the necessary machinery. This will take about 80% of the worker's time. Welding and yard care will be 20% of the time. The ground needs to be prepared by plowing using the correct attachment for the tractor. The equipment that is necessary to fertilitize and prepare the land for planting would be a tractor, cutter or mower, and fertilizer buggies. A grain drill would be attached to the tractor to plant seeds and later the cutter and baler would be attached to the tractor for those appropriate activities. All of this equipment is computerized. The equipment used for caring for the livestock would be a tractor with a hayfork attachment and a pickup truck for checking the status of the cattle on a daily basis. There is only feeding of the range cubes which is done by truck and haying which is done by tractor. When the livestock is "worked" other people are hired on an hourly basis to vaccinate, work, brand, etc.
The equipment involved with the general yard work would be a riding mower and a push/motor driven small mower for the small inaccessible places. The worker would use a weed eater and blower. All equipment necessary for welding will be provided by the employer.
The worker's performance standards that could apply would be to do the job to the best of his/her ability with respect for the machinery, animals, and fellow workers.
All training is provided by Frank B. Seale, the owner of the property and the equipment. This will be an ongoing process and Mr. Seale will be working beside the worker to be sure that the worker understands the workings of the machinery and the ranch.
No licenses or permits are required to operate any of the machinery. A Texas state driver's license is required to move equipment at times of repair, etc. The owner (employer) will be responsible for the payment of this license.
During baling time of the year, the work level is intense to get hay baled quickly.
All machinery, tools and equipment will be provided by the owner.
