Job description

Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Must be able to work with minimum supervision. Cotton, Corn, Hay, Soybeans, Wheat, Rye Grass, and Peanuts: Assist in all aspects of planting, cultivating, and harvesting field crops. Help maintain the quality of crops by operating machinery and doing physical labor under the supervision of a farm owner or manager; machinery includes, but is not limited to, tractors (both with and without FEL), combines, cotton pickers, hay balers, hay rakes, grain carts, planters, bush hogs, N-sol rigs, hippers, mowers, trailers, front-end loaders sprayers, cultivators, tedders, disks, and scratchers. Use hand tools for manual procedures when required; hand tools include, but are not limited to, wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, bungee cords, air pressure gauges and pumps, grease guns, hydraulic and manual jacks, heavy-duty chains, ratchet hauling straps, knives, files, and air wrenches. Drive and control farm equipment to till soil and to plant, cultivate, and harvest crops. Perform tasks such as cutting, raking, and baling. Operate stationary equipment to perform post-harvest tasks such as husking, shelling, threshing, and ginning. Recognize and react appropriately to proximity and nature of livestock when actively involved in the processes of crop production. Diagnose, adjust, repair, overhaul, and maintain farm machines and vehicles. Lift and move heavy parts and tools, handle greasy and dirty equipment, and stand or lie in uncomfortable positions. Transport vehicles, equipment, and crop products among fields or to other destinations, as required. Ensure that field trucks are fully equipped and supplied. Load and unload grain bins and perform general maintenance (grease bearings, replace augers, sweep floors, etc.). Workers will be expected to maintain the grounds at the shop and the housing residence by mowing the grass and keeping the grounds clean. May drive workers to/from housing to fields and to grocery store. Raises and bonuses may be offered to any seasonal worker, at the employer’s discretions, based on individual factors including but not limited to, performance, experience, number of hours worked in the season, number of seasons worked with the company, adherence to work rules & ability to follow supervisor instructions.

Special Requirements

Applicants must be 18 years of age or older. 3 months experience required in harvesting row crops and operating agricultural machinery. Lifting requirement may have a range of 5-60 lbs. Workers will receive on-the-job training for operation of equipment and/or new procedures. Valid drivers license required. Employer may conduct background checks on all new applicants for employment at employers expense. Workers should come prepared wearing appropriate clothing and footwear for the environmental and working conditions described. Cell phone can only be used during breaks, emergencies, and to communicate with supervisor when needed. All tools, supplies, and equipment will be provided at no cost to the workers. Workers must not have any physical limitations that would prevent them from performing duties of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
