Job description
Duties may vary from time to time. Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Perform manual labor. Workers will clear ground of rocks, sticks, and roots by hand and clear brush and trees. Manually weeding fields by hand/using hand tools & other farm tools. Workers will plant, harvest, cut, and pick tomatoes, squash, pepper and Eggplant. Duties also include tying, pull and pile string, staking, pulling plastic, loading, and unloading stakes, cleaning, loading, and unloading harvested products, and pulling weeds. Workers will harvest vegetables in the field. Use hand tools such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, and knives. Duties may include tilling soil, applying fertilizers, transplanting, pulling weeds, raking, cleaning around shed area, thinning, or pruning crops, cleaning, grading, and packing harvested product. All tools, supplies, and equipment will be provided at no cost to the worker. May repair fences and farm buildings and participate in irrigation activities. OFLC administrator publishes new AEWR rates yearly and we reserve the right to adjust our job order to the new published rate regardless of rate increases or decreases. Raises and bonuses may be offered to any seasonal worker at the employer’s discretion, based on individual factors including but not limited to performance, experience, number of hours worked in the season, number of seasons worked with the company, adherence to work with rules and ability to follow supervisor’s instructions.
Special Requirements
Must be 18 years or older. The employer may conduct a criminal background check on all new applicants for employment. Most of the workday is spent on ones feet and outdoors. Workers must be able to climb, stand, sit, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, bend (from the waist), push, pull, reach and lift 5-60 lbs. Hours of work may increase/decrease depending on crop yield and/or weather and can occur at any time throughout the season. Work is performed in outdoor agricultural fields and involves exposure to sun, wind, rain, soil, mud, dust, heat, cold and other natural elements. Worker must be able to withstand working in the direct sunlight and weather conditions ranging from hot and humid weather, moderate rain and cold while performing their required job duties. Workers should expect periods of little/no work because of weather/crop/other conditions beyond the employers control.
