Job description
Be able to perform duties on a rice and row crop farm (soybeans and corn). Duties include : drive and operate farm machinery to plant, cultivate, harvest and store grain crops. Attach farm implements, such as plow, disc, drill to tractor. Till soil; plant and cultivate grain. Operate GPS equipment in farm machinery. Run a self propelled sprayer. Be able to keep records and read farm maps. General lubrication, fuel, service (check fluids) and mechanical repair to farm machinery and implements when needed. Drive grain trucks to transport crops to elevator or storage area. Load grain trucks. Maintenance grain bins and elevator system, as well as load out augers and drive over pits. Clean floors of grain bins, if needed. All aspects of irrigation, including checking and servicing power-units, irrigation pumps, checking fields, levee gates, poly pipe. Knowledge of underground irrigation pipe, pumps, and equipment is a plus. Soil sampling if needed. Power washing machinery, implements and vehicles. Farm shop(s) maintenance. Special Requirements
Minimum of 3 months of experience is required. Must be able to obtain a drivers license within 30 days of hire. Employer requires drug screen post-hire at employers expense due to the liability of driving trucks on public roads. Employer requires criminal background check post-hire at employers expense due to the presence of children on the farm and expensive tools and equipment. Failure to pass drug screen and/or criminal background check will result in termination of employment. Lift and carry items weighing up to 60 pounds. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Extensive pushing and pulling is required. Extensive sitting is required. Extensive walking is required. Frequent stooping is required. Repetitive movements is required. Wage rate may increase with verifiable experience. Employer may reward exceptional work with monetary or other benefits in addition to those listed here in his sole discretion.
