Job description

Duties may include: Workers will perform tree planting using hoedads, shovels, dibble bars, &/or work on an auger crew as either: scalper; augerman; or planter. Work includes selecting plantable spot, clearing debris from spot, opening hole for seedling, planting and filling/firming soil around roots, smoothing the ground surface. Work includes helping with the handling of seedlings, bagging up seedlings, dipping seedlings in water, clean-up of job site. Once planting season is over, workers will be involved in hand cutting work for woody fuels reduction, density management, habitat improvement and similar Forestry treatments. Chainsaw and hand tools are used. Some slash piling work may also be performed. & other related Forestry Worker activities as per SOC/OES 45-4011 (onetonline.org).

At Employer’s sole discretion: possible raises and/or bonuses based on individual factors such as work performance or skill (not guaranteed).

Possible weekend/holiday work.

Special Requirements

Must be 18 due to goverment contracts. Must show proof of legal authorization to work in the United States. Drug/alcohol/tobacco free work zone. Must walk substantially (up to 15 miles/day), also stoop, bend while carrying a pack (up to 50lbs) thru rough terrain (non-trail). Outdoors, exposed to weather; must be capable of doing physically strenuous labor for long hours, occasionally in extreme heat or cold. Variable weather conditions apply; hours may fluctuate (+/-), possible downtime and/or overtime.
