Job description
Workers will be planting Broccoli, Cauliflower, Kale, Swiss Chard, Radish, Peas, Beans, Sweet Corn, Tomatoes,
Tomatillos, Bell Peppers, Lettuce, Hot Peppers, Watermelon, Cantaloupe, Fall Squash, Onions, Leeks,
Strawberries, and collards. All these vegetables will be hand harvested. In the Spring, the workers will assist with
loading and unloading flowering plants into box trucks, for market and/or stores. Workers will move plant material
as required. When field work begins, the workers will plant transplants by riding on the back of a mechanical
transplanter. The workers will weed most vegetables manually by hand. Harvest Season begins in Mid-June, the
workers will cut lettuce with knife then box it for market. Workers may be required to drive a ranger that pulls the
harvest wagon. The workers will be required to pick corn at Sunrise on many days of the week, as per the
vegetables going to market 6 days a week. Workers will be responsible for daily harvest, washing and packing of
any vegetables ready for harvest. All tractor driving (Field Prep, Cultivating, Planting) will be done by the
Owner/Supervisor. The worker will have access to a Ranger, that has a governor installed in it limiting it to 12MPH.
In the Fall, the workers will be responsible for cleaning out the (7) greenhouses, workers will also remove plastic
mulch from the field, and do general winterization around the farm, closing doors, cleaning, cooler, etc. All tools
and supplies will be provided to the workers free of charge. May drive workers to and from worksites and grocery
store. The OFLC Administration publishes new AEWR rates yearly and we reserve the right to adjust our job order to the new published rate regardless of rate increases or decreases. Raises and bonuses may be offered to any seasonal worker at the employer's discretions, based on individual factors including but not limited to, performance, experience, number of hours worked in the season, number of seasons worked with the company, adherence to work with rules and ability to follow supervisor's instructions.
Special Requirements
Workers will be required to do many varied tasks instructed by the supervisor. if driving, workers must have a valid driver's license. The employer may conduct a criminal background check. The majority of the workday
will be spent on ones feet and outdoors. Workers may stand in one place for any period of time. Workers must be able to climb, stand,
stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, bend, (from the waist), push, pull, reach and lift 10-80 lbs. Work is performed in outdoor agricultural fields
and involves exposure to sun, wind, rain, soil, mud, dust, heat, cold, and other natural elements. Workers must be able to withstand
working in direct sunlight and weather conditions ranging from hot and humid weather, moderate rain, and cold while performing their
required job duties. Hours and days of work may vary due to weather conditions. Cell phones can only be used during breaks,
emergencies and communicated with supervisor when needed.
