Job description

We farm 3500 acres (2500 irrigated) of cotton, wheat, and occasionally other grains such as corn or milo. Employees will be expected to learn preparation, planting, in season practices, and harvesting of cotton and other crops of the high plains of Texas. We require operation of and knowledge about center pivot irrigation and sub-surface drip irrigation. The job will require servicing and repairs of both types of irrigation systems including center drive replacement, gear box replacement, tire changes, hose replacements, drip leak repair, and daily maintenance. Irrigation responsibilities will also include checking these systems twice daily and as needed to ensure proper operation. Our operation also requires the ability to drive and service tractors (John Deere 8245r & 8r250 tractors). These tractors are equipped with the John Deere Greenstar GPS systems. Other implements used in our operation include John Deere row crop planters, vertical tillage, rod weeder, rotary hoe, fertilizing rig, cultivator, sprayer, etc. We are primarily a cotton farming operation, and our crop is harvested with a John Deere CS690 stripper baler. During harvest, employee will be expected to help clean and maintain harvest machinery and transport round bales to designated locations. Other duties and expectations of the employee include but are not limited to cleaning and maintaining workshop facilities, vehicles, farm equipment, and personal residence. Complete general farm duties as assigned. Employees will need to complete routine repairs and maintenance on equipment. Employer may provide pay increases for performance, longevity and/or experience at employer’s discretion. Employer may provide performance bonuses at the end of the contract at the employer’s discretion.

***Please note for future years our starting date will be February 15 to cover our entire crop season. This is the earliest date available for 2022.

Special Requirements

Job requires extensive sitting, walking, pushing, pulling, repetitive movements, frequent stooping and exposure to extreme outdoor temperatures. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Job requires a regular drivers license and 3 months experience.
