Job description
Workers will be responsible for making sure all gin machinery is running and ready for the upcoming gin season. This will require complete repair of all gin machinery on property by replacing defective parts, components, or systems. Workers will maintain machinery and equipment to ensure that it is clean and in safe working order before the ginning season begins. Workers will also be in charge of performing routine maintenance on equipment and making adjustments and/or repairs, using hand and power tools while being 30 feet in the air. Must not be afraid of heights. Workers will operate small hand tools including, but not limited to grinders, drills, and saws. Workers may operate welder, plasma cutter, and torch. Workers may operate tractors, forklifts and front-end loaders. Workers will check and maintain proper fluid levels and refill propane tanks. Workers will also be responsible for gin yard maintenance. Workers may drive to field and/or grocery. Raises and bonuses may be offered to any seasonal worker, at the employer’s discretion, based on individual factors including but not limited to performance, experience, number of hours worked in the season, number of seasons worked with the company, adherence to work rules & ability to follow supervisor instructions.
Special Requirements
Applicants must be 18 years or older. One month experience required in gin machinery repair, tractor operating, and driving forklifts and front-end loaders. Employer may conduct background checks on all new applicants at the employers expense. Valid Drivers License required if asked to drive vehicles. There will be a lifting requirement of 60-100 lbs. All tools, supplies, and equipment will be provided at no cost to the worker. Safety training for use of equipment and tractors will be provided. To ensure the safety of all employees, those interested in operating machinery must be able to communicate with and adequately follow instructions given by management. Management reserves the right to restrict employees from operational duties who do not show proficiency to effectively communicate with management and may therefore place other employees safety in risk. The ability of an employee to safely operate machinery will be left to the discretion of management.
