Job description
Tractor Driver - A tractor operator must be able to operate a manual transmission style clutch and gear operation. The operator must perform daily inspections during start-up and shutdown of the machine such as checking oil levels, cleaning air filters, and checking tire pressures. The operations he may be asked to do may be running implements such as a mower, weeder, bin trailer, or bin forks
and spray equipment. The operator will be trained on all tasks and safety regulations set by manufactures guidelines and signed off that he has been properly trained.
Checker - The checker is the person who aids the crew boss with collecting information. The information collected maybe counts in a piece-rate situation. The checker may need to keep a daily log and be able to accurately track counts of different personnel. The checker must be able to read and write in Spanish. Checkers may aid the crew boss in reviewing work performance and report back to the crew-boss on the quality of work performed. Work quality may also be logged.
Pruning - Pruning numerous varieties of apple, pears, and cherry trees, according to established company procedures based on the difference in the treatment of different varieties. Work will be performed on trees for long periods of time using a variety of pruning equipment including but not limited to hand shears, hand loppers, hand saws and chainsaws. Furthermore, the worker must possess the ability to pick-up and handle up to a 12 ft. orchard ladder weighing 40 lbs. Pruning may be done from the ground or a ladder up to 12 ft. in height or from a motorized platform. Workers may be required to selectively prune only trees of a certain size and color as instructed be the crew supervisor.
Planting-Planting of numerous varieties of apple, pears, cherry trees and blueberry bushes as well.
