Job description

CDL Driver: Workers will load and unload trucks. Meet Delivery Appointments. Deliver products, pick up and disassemble product racks, transport company equipment and supplies needed, sweep and clean the interior and exterior of the trucks. Workers will maintain a log book when needed. Workers will provide a pre-trip inspection before each trip as outlined in the commercial driver’s license handbook. Workers will maintain the truck in good working condition and provide repairs when needed. Workers must operate trucks in a careful and cautious manner. Workers caught not doing so will be terminated.
Equipment Operations: Workers may be required to operate tractors, forklifts, trucks, skid steer loader, and other farm equipment during farming operations. Before any worker is required to operate farm equipment, the worker will be instructed in the proper and safe operation. Workers will be required to operate equipment according to instructions and in a manner that protects the operator, other workers, and equipment. Repeated failure to obey operating and safety instructions may result in termination. Other duties include providing transportation to and from the fields and orchards for all workers and work duties performed. Haul harvest bins from the storage facility to the vegetable fields and orchards for placing product in during the harvesting process. Haul harvested vegetables and fruit from field and orchards to the storage facility. Facilitate the movement of the tractor/harvest bin wagon in the vegetable fields and orchards to accommodate the harvest crews. Workers will haul the portable toilet facilities to and from the fields. Workers will use tractor/wagon needed for assistance and transporting brush for pick up crew. Workers will haul water needed for planting and transplant survival. Workers will haul vegetable transplants to and from the fields to be planted from the greenhouses. Workers will use equipment to plant vegetable transplants and cover crop seed with various planters. Spread fertilizer in crops when needed and operate a sprayer that applies herbicides to the grounds at the base of the fruit trees and vegetable fields. Sprayers will also be used to apply crop protectants to the vegetable and fruit trees. Forklift duties include hauling large containers of culls to the dump area, unload/load harvest wagons, move & transport harvest bins, assign vegetable and fruit traceability stickers to incoming produce for food safety traceability, Move and transport pallets of finished boxed product to cold storage/shipping/market.

Farm, and Field Sanitation- All workers will be responsible for picking up trash, and other farm sanitation duties.
GENERAL CONDITIONS APPLICABLE TO ALL CROPS: Fieldwork begins at assigned time shortly after daylight. Work may be performed during light rain and in high humidity and in temperatures ranging from 110 degrees to 20 degrees F. Workers will perform the majority of tasks standing in the upright position and can expect to stand on their feet for extended periods of time. Some tasks, however, require workers to perform activities on their feet in stooped or crouched position for long periods of time. Workers will supply their own work clothes. All the tasks in this Job Description constitute one (1) job; the employer may assign workers to different tasks on any day or to multiple tasks during the same day in the sole judgment of the employer. Workers may be required to perform work, on the farm, that is incidental to this job classification. Workers may be required to wash truck, truck beds, and other equipment on the farm.

Special Requirements

All applicants must possess a valid CDL-License Class B minimum with air brake endorsement. Workers must have clean driving and insurable record. Workers must pass an employer paid pre-employment drug test. Failing or refusing to take a drug test will prevent applicants from being hired. Applicants must be able to furnish affirmative job references from recent employers operating comparable operations establishing acceptable previous experience. Must be physically able to meet and perform all job specifications stated in job order. Must be able to work in the hot humid weather for extended periods of time. Workers are subject to random drug testing at no cost to the employee. Failing or refusing a drug test will result in immediate termination.
