Job description
Perform a variety of agricultural duties associated with the farming of wine grapes, which include: cluster and shoot thinning; canopy work (tucking canes into canopy wire), leaf removal; crop thinning; deer fence repair; erosion control; weeding; hand hedging grapevine canopy; installing and maintaining trellis; tying trellises; installing new irrigation; planting new vineyards; trunk suckering; cane and vine training; root picking; layout rows and wires, conduct measurements, plant stakes, and move wires for grape production; and performance of other similar agricultural duties. Duties require using common agricultural tools, such as shears, loppers, machetes, chain saws, shovels, knives, weedeaters, and operation of ATVs. Employees will be working outside on ranches in variable weather and soil conditions and must frequently work in dirty, wet, or dusty conditions depending upon the season, weather, and growing conditions. Workers may be exposed to sun, wind, mud, dust, heat, cold, low light, plant pollens, insects, snakes, rodents, noxious plants and/or plant materials that have been treated with insect and/or disease control sprays. Workers should come prepared with appropriate clothing and footwear for the work and working conditions described, such as raincoats, leg covers, gloves, safety glasses, rubber shoes, closed-toe shoes, masks, hats, protective sleeves, and jackets. The employer will provide tools and equipment necessary to perform all required tasks at no cost to the worker. Each worker shall be responsible for returning all equipment checked out to the worker. Usually, long days may be worked when weather or crop conditions are right. Workers must follow all health and safety protocols, which include observing Covid19 preventative measures and social distancing, observing all safety signs, directives and training, and usage of masks.
Special Requirements
One month of agricultural labor experience with the harvesting of crops. All qualified applicants must have the authorization to work in the United States, be willing to perform the agricultural duties as described in this job order and be able to meet the physical demands of the position and the employer's work schedule with or without reasonable accommodation.
