Job description

Physical labor is needed for farm activities involved in burley tobacco production which includes setting, cultivating, harvesting and stripping of burley tobacco. Verifiable experience in the production of burley tobacco is necessary for this job. Work in the fields can begin early in the morning when the leaves are wet with dew and the work will continue all day long even in weather conditions that can be as hot as over 100 degrees. Workers are required to be physically fit and able to perform the duties while standing, bending, stooping, walking and lifting sticks of tobacco, that weigh over 80 pounds, all day long and while standing on rails that can be as high as forty feet from the ground on tiers four feet wide and six feet high between tiers. The worker is required to cut and spike no less than an average of 75 sticks, six plants per stick, per hour each hour during the cutting process, after a training period of two day (eight hour each day). Workers must be able to work as a group, keeping pace with other workers in the production of the tobacco. All during work time, care must be exercised to prevent bruising and breaking of the tobacco plants and leaves. Larry P Clark Farm is involved in the cutting, housing and stripping of tobacco and other work on his owned or leased property (controlled by Larry P Clark Farm) in Green County, Kentucky. Other work will be available during the slow part of the season which may include mowing the grass, weed eat around building and other repairs and maintenance of any property that is owned or leased by Larry P Clark Farm. Other work could include planting and harvesting watermelons and cucumbers. Larry P Clark will make daily individual work assignments, crew assignments and location of work as the needs of the operation dictate. Workers may be assigned a variety of duties in any given day and different task on different days only on land either owned, leased but controlled by Larry P Clark Farm. Steady and reliable attendance is a required must to each aspect of this job.
