Job description

June-August: Prepare for heavy calving season by setting up hutches, hauling sand for hutch bedding, spreading sand in hutches, and mowing, weed eating, etc. calving area; September: Prepare calf area and inventory of supplies for calf care; begin heavy calving season; transporting, feeding, and medicating calves; record birth weights, medicine administered, and tag/number calves; catch colostrum which must be fed to calves within 6 hours of birth; October-April: Monitor cows and calves multiple times per day during peak calving; transporting, feeding, and medicating calves; weaning calves from mothers; transporting calves to heifer location; hauling yearlings to market; preservation of hospital and calf area.
