Agriculture Packing & Field Supervisor

Job description

FIELD & PACKING HOUSE SUPERVISOR:
Employer will inform worker of daily tasks/orders and worker will be responsible for communicating the necessary
information to team members. Packing house and field supervision requires occasional forklift driving, tractor driving,
frequent stooping/bending and walking. Worker will be required to consistently check packing/harvest containers and
product throughout the day to verify compliance with safety and quality standards. Worker must be able to identify any
damage to the crops, and check product size and color.
Worker will observe job performance and provide training to team members as needed, including training to team members
for production that does not meet productivity or quality standards. Training includes English and Spanish verbal instruction,
written warnings, time off, or other coaching or instruction to teach team member to work more efficiently.
Worker may use radios to communicate with other supervisors and farm management in English and Spanish. Worker will be
required to return radios to office at end of the day.
Worker will be required to log information into the appropriate computer in the packing house or field tablet/smart phone.
Worker will keep an accurate count of harvested bins, packed product and pallets throughout the workday. Worker will be responsible for marking and tagging the bins/pallets appropriately or assigning an employee to do so. Worker must ensure
team members are complying with all food safety rules and policies and report all violations to Employer.
Worker will be responsible for providing team members with the necessary supplies (company supplied) needed for crop
care, harvest, clean harvest equipment, clean packing house equipment, containers and building. Worker will assist all team
members in completing clean up tasks as needed. Worker will be responsible for informing Employer of any damage to the
equipment, tools or supplies. Worker must be able to lift 65 pounds.

ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES:
• Oversee daily operations in the field or warehouse/production lines.
• Assign and oversee crop care, harvesting or packing line team leads at times where multiple packing lines or crews
are in operation.
• Assign and ensure employees are completing job tasks and documenting completion on required paperwork in
English and/or Spanish.
• Assist with irrigation equipment start up and shut down or other field work as required.
• Assist Food Safety team with training employees on food safety processes and initiatives.
• Ensure that production goals are met on a daily basis.
• Manage traceability processes on all harvesting or production runs (paperwork/stickers).
• Conduct daily walkthrough of fields or warehouse and production areas to complete field/facility checklist.
• Train employees on cleaning procedures and ensure compliance.
• Document cleaning procedures and keep records current.
• Basic communication in English and Spanish
• Supervisor will engage in crop care, harvest or packing activities as needed to relieve field or packing workers while
on break and during hands-on training.

Job requires worker to complete Supervisory duties in packing of crops including: Cabbage (Green, Red), Broccoli, Cauliflower, Summer Squash (Zucchini & Yellow), Winter Squash (Acorn, Butternut, Spaghetti, Kabocha), Apples, Peaches, Jack-O-Lantern Pumpkins, Pie Pumpkins, Specialty/White/Heirloom Pumpkins, Mini Pumpkins, Mini Assorted Gourds, Large Gourds, Sweet Corn (Bicolor & Yellow), and Indian Corn.
