Job description
Duties include maintaining all fields, pre and post harvest, free from vines and tall weeds, propping up coffee tree branches, pruning trees, planting trees, harvesting produce, processing coffee cherries, sorting coffee beans, maintaining processing center/equipment clean and orderly. Our labor intensive outdoor work requires workers to stand, walk up and down steep slope fields most of the day. Workers must be able to stand, walk on steep slopes, sit, squat, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend from knees or backs, push, pull, reach, lift and carry items of 5 to 60 lbs. Indoor work for sorting beans requires sitting and attending during intermittent periods of time. Red to purple colored coffee cherries are picked one by one using swift movements of the fingers and hands that includes accurately dropping coffee cherries in the basket hanging from the waist o from the shoulders. The worker will be paid at a per-unit rate of $.50/lb. ripe cherries. The worker is required to pick a minimum of 20 lbs. ripe cherries to meet the minimum wage per hour.
Special Requirements
Picking ripe coffee beans that does not include green or yellow beans requires much experience, preferably since young adulthood.
