Job description
We operate a beef yearling operation. We buy calves in August, September, and October. We background them then turn them out on to winter forage pasture and graze them until mid-May when we sell and ship to feed yards. We do not have any cattle from June until August. Employees duties include: Unloading, vaccinating, branding, and ear tagging upon arrival. Employees will visually check calves each day for sickness, separating them if found, and treating. Employees will load and distribute calves to winter forage, break ice, move hay for feeding, and set out mineral, salt and protein blocks. Employees will gather cattle at time of shipment, load trucks, remove temporary fencing, and complete general farm duties as assigned. Employer may provide performance bonuses at the end of the contract at the employer’s discretion.
Special Requirements
Job requires extensive walking, pushing, pulling, repetitive movements, frequent stooping and exposure to extreme outdoor temperatures. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Employer will conduct post-hire drug testing and post-hire background checks at employer's expense. We conduct testing to enforce a drug free workplace, failing a drug test will result in termination. No person with violent or theft criminal background will be hired. Job requires a regular drivers license within 30 days of hire. Require 3 months experience.
