Farm Worker/laborer

Job description

We have a project to reconstruct the cattle pens. We have to tear out and replace the fences, re-grade/re-landscape, to reconstruct the feeding troughs. We also need to repair some of the areas where cement floors have broken and need to be repaired. This is our window of opportunity with good weather conditions from the beginning of July until about the middle of September to complete the work prior to the beginning of the harvesting season. We have 120 cattle pens that need to be reconstructed. We will try to do as many each summer as the weather and time will allow. Each pen will require hauling in/adding 50 to 120 yards of dirt and replacing the many poles that have cracked off and stretching or replacing of the cable fences. Workers will work on this project about 70% of the time.

In addition we will have a new summer crop of rye to harvest which we have not done before. Workers will harvest the crop. Job duties will include the operation of farm equipment including tractors, sprayers, mowers, skid loaders, trucks, four wheelers. Workers will work on this project 30% of the time.

The workers must be able to lift and carry up to 75 pounds
and be available to work Monday through Sunday. Beginning and ending times will vary depending on the weather condition. The job will require extensive sitting in tractor, potential to get dirty, pushing, pulling, basic mechanical ability and tractor operation. Drug/alcohol-free work zone. Worker after hire, may be required to take a random drug test at no cost to the worker. Workers are required to have driver's license Class C to drive provided transportation.
